LNG tax poses B.C. ‘disadvantage,’ says AltaGas

CALGARY — The B.C. government’s proposal to impose a new tax on liquefied natural gas export projects puts the province at a “disadvantage” with other exporting jurisdictions, says the Calgary partner in a proposed plant. David Cornhill, chairman and chief executive of AltaGas Ltd., said the tax will potentially delay an investment decision previously expected before year-end on a project it has proposed with Japan’s Idemitsu Kosan Co.
