Truckers waiting longer at Port Metro Vancouver, making fewer trips: analyst

Statistics compiled by a transportation analyst support truckers’ complaints of long waiting times at Port Metro Vancouver as work stoppage by non-unionized truckers continued at the port for a second day Thursday. Truckers made 21 per cent fewer revenue trips in 2013 compared with 2006 — or an average of about four revenue trips a day compared to 5.3 per day in 2006, according to Philip Davies, founder of Davies Transportation Consulting Inc., an independent Vancouver-based firm that keeps track of the port’s statistics.
