Appeal court overturns insider trading charges

CALGARY — The Alberta Court of Appeal has dismissed Alberta Securities Commission findings against three people accused of insider trading and set aside sanctions imposed on two others whose appeals were denied. In a written decision released Friday, the court allowed the appeals of Kenneth Michael Burdeyney, Gayle Marie Walton and John Jacob Shepert, noting that the ASC did not have enough evidence to have found they had broken securities laws.
