B.C. LNG sector opposes fast increase in carbon tax

The liquefied natural gas industry does not support an increase B.C.’s carbon tax, at least not yet, as a way to meet the province’s ambitious greenhouse gas reduction targets. A committee commissioned by Christy Clark’s Liberal government has recommended the $30 tax a tonne tax on carbon be increased by $10 a tonne a year beginning in 2018 and with further increases through to 2050.
