Ruling reinstates ban on customer loyalty programs in pharmacies

The B.C. Court of Appeal has rejected a 2014 B.C. Supreme Court decision allowing Safeway and Thrifty Foods to offer customer loyalty programs through their pharmacies. The decision supporting College of Pharmacists of B.C. bylaws that prohibit the provision of incentives for prescriptions or pharmacy services protects the public, the college said Thursday.
